In preparation for the next Teaching and Learning Conference in September 2009, I'm thinking of developing a series of demos that staff can use to explore the use of microblogs as part of the activities for the day. I've been using Jaiku instead of Twitter for this purpose because the 'Channels' feature in Jaiku makes it easier to pull together messages from a group of users. Here are the first two installments - just experimenting at this stage so I'd be really grateful for feedback and/or suggestions....

Conference Feedback

Thanks to all who sent a twitter text during the lecture. I've reviewed those this morning and it was lovely to find such positive feedback. An interesting point that came up was whether asking students to use their mobiles in a lecture is a recipe for disaster and what about disruptive students? I think there's an argument that, as we saw in the morning, if students are bored and disengaged, they'll surreptitioulsy use their phones anyway, the first chance they get!
